What is love?
One of the great questions of life.
Can anyone really know?
Or is this one of those things that don’t have an answer?
I believe it is not.
We simply ignore what we know love to be.
For, if we acknowledge the truth of it,
We would see how unloving we all really are.
See how we really only care about ourselves.
But love is real.
Love is not what the media tells us.
Love is not what we see in Hollywood.
Love is not what the world makes it out to be.
Love is not just a thing of physical pleasure.
True love is far beyond that.
True love is something hard to find,
But it can be found.
Hate is easy.
Jealousy is easy.
True love is many things,
But it is not easy.
True love hurts.
True love costs.
Love suffers for the sake of others.
Love is kind.
Love does not show off.
Love is not rude.
Love does not seek its own.
Love is not provoked.
Love does not take joy in wrong-doing.
Love rejoices in the truth.
Love hopes all things.
Love endures all things.
Love never fails.
Love is an amazing thing.
Oh, and this is not my definition of love.
This is God’s.
God gave us the example of what true love really is:
So we have no excuse, for as He is, so we are to be.
As He did, so we are to do.
Love others even when you know it’s going to hurt.
Suffer pain, loss, humiliation, for the sake of one who is your enemy.
Give your life up for one who hates you.
Pray for those who despise you and use you.
That is what true love is.
Can we get this?
Can you see it?
Can you realize what this world would be like if this is how we loved?
Think about it . . .
So many of us talk about making a difference,
And yet we go on, loving ourselves with no regard for others.
What can we expect when the motto of the world is, “An eye for an eye.”
That is why we must be the ambassadors of love!
We must live out the life we talk about in church.
If we do . . . if we really do, things will change.
Even if it is only one person at a time.
That is truly one of the greatest things on earth:
To see love.
To know love.
To feel love.
To receive love.
To GIVE love.
