They cower in their fortresses of ignorance.
They languish in in their palaces of blindness.
Do they even know true joy or pain?
They know nothing.
They comprehend nothing.
Their simple minds are filled with the mundane.
Their hearts with desires most base.
Is there no beauty to be found here?
Is there no depth to be discovered?
Or only shallow deceit,
And empty words . . . ?
And meaningless actions.
This great deception has done its work.
They are no longer their own people.
Complete and whole.
They cannot speak or move,
But only as they are told.
True life they comprehend not.
Freedom, a word lost to the annals of time.
Will the truth ever rise again?
Only time can tell.
