Seeing faces in walls,
and lights in floorboards.
Looking for hope in a gutter,
and salvation in a cave.
The altered perspective of twisted truths,
creating cracks in foundations always known.
Clarity begging it’s petals unfurled,
love crying for the limelight;
Not for it’s own glory,
no, never that,
but for His.
Spinning faster, soul in flux,
Mirrored image in glowing flame.
Slow, slow, slow down now,
In focus now the only Name.
In shadows he crafts his snares,
to impale the unwitting on spikes of loss and pain.
In darkness he weaves his web,
of deception and lies to destroy all hope.
In twilight he summons a great fog,
a dark cloud to confuse and scatter our people.
The great Serpent I loath,
his twisted scales that darken all around him,
The black Demon of Light,
him I defy as he defies the Armies of the Lord,
The grand Liar and Deceiver of men,
his warped words that steal the life from all –
All but those who war in the Spirit.
All but those who put on the Armor of God.
All but those who hold onto Jesus Christ.
All but those whose allegiance is to the One and only King of Kings.
We and we alone can stand,
for it is not us who stand,
but the Mighty One who stands,
within us He proves Himself great.
Shout the victory cry, my brothers and sisters!
Live no longer in fear and shame,
but let the joy of your salvation echo from your lips!
Let your life be an act of worship and victory in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Staring into the abyss,
what is it that stares back at you?
Or is it simply fear,
fear that holds us from seeing the truth?
The truth that we know,
but our souls quake at the thought . . .
Within the darkness is indeed a monster,
one we know all too well –
