Wisdom,
With her varied shades of beauty all in gold,
Her clear lines of decision all dark and bold
Wisdom,
To all, so quietly does she whisper, “come.”
It matters not where they are from
Wisdom,
The faithful companion of my soul,
A diamond, to make, she seeks from this coal
Wisdom,
Her children kept from agony’s death,
Safe within her arms they find true rest
Any yet,
When looking at horizon near or far,
See her, does she stand alone, apart?
And yet,
If we could but look in Solomon’s mind,
Indeed we’d see there’s much yet to find
And yet,
Though wish, God-granted, seemed to leave no gap,
‘Tis clear in him there yet remained a lack
Humility,
That great and wondrous word,
A goal deemed by some, absurd
Humility,
Found only on ones knees perhaps,
Yet still more when all the world claps
Humility,
That so oft hidden, deep and fearsome trait,
Standing strong as iron – carrying ev’n greater weight
Humility,
That which keeps in check above all others,
Wisdom’s self-inflated clout – restraining ego’s tethers
And so we come now to my final point,
The place where north and south are join’d
Equilibrium of soul is this,
Resulting in such perfect bliss
When knowledge rises baring strength anew,
Humble thoughts make missteps few
When understanding overflows to pride,
Humble words may turn it aside
But now when Godly wisdom in her glorious beauty shines,
Humble action through Godly man the Savior magnifies
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
~ James 4:10
